Remembering Nick Rankin, Founder of irishcallcards.net

Today, many of us in the Callcard collecting community learned of the untimely passing of Nick Rankin on August 7th, 2024. Nick was the driving force behind irishcallcards.net, a website similar to ours, dedicated to the passion of collecting Irish Phonecards (Callcards).

Nick's passion and dedication to the Callcard community were impeccable. He was highly regarded as a subject matter expert by collectors across Ireland, and his contributions were invaluable. Nick was always incredibly responsive to anyone with a Callcard query and enjoyed engaging in friendly swaps. His website, www.irishcallcards.net, stands as a testament to his meticulous work and commitment to preserving Callcard history.

Finally on a personal note, Nick was a constant source of motivation, always setting the bar high in our field. Coincidentally, this week I had come across a heartwarming email from Nick, sharing that both of our sites had been quoted in an Irish Times article on the subject we both love so much. Our deepest condolences go out to the Rankin family and Nick’s friends during this difficult time. May he rest in peace—Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. #RIP
